It's bad. It's shrouded in delicious darkness. It's Harley-Davidson's latest entry in their Dark Customs line-up: the newly- released 2008 FLSTSB Softail Cross Bones...a bold blend of nostalgic coolness with contemporary classiness in a new-school retro bobber.

The Cross Bones turns back the hands of time to an era when greasers ruled the road on their knucklehead choppers -- but the modern incarnation boasts a fuel-injected 1584cc Twin Cam 96B engine and a 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission cradled in a cushy Softail frame for a smooth, dependable and powerful presence on the asphalt.

Stunning style fuses with distinctive design, from the Bobtail rear fender to the five-gallon split-tanks and forward to the black Springer front forks; this renovated retro is ready to take on the open road in aggressive fashion. Sit astride the sprung solo saddle and grab ahold of the black mini ape-hangers to light up the night.

"Only Harley-Davidson could do this bike," said Bill Davidson, Harley-Davidson Vice President, Core Customer Marketing. "It's a motorcycle inspired as much by our early Knuckles and Pans, as by our desire to deliver innovative technology and content to make the ride today as magical and transforming as only a Harley-Davidson can. Cross Bones is a bike that makes me want to strap a blanket across the handle bar, hit the campgrounds on my next road trip and get totally in touch with what's right about this land."

Other post-war-era bobber styling cues include half-round rider footboards, black bucket headlamp, cat-eye tank console, gloss black round air cleaner cover and chopped fenders to reveal the brawny tires mounted to steel-laced wheels with gloss black rims. A straight- shot exhaust system with chrome slash-cut mufflers provides optimum performance and stands out in stark contrast to the Cross Bones' many darker components.

The FLSTSB Cross Bones will come in premium custom graphics with wicked striping and paint featuring new Dark Blue Pearl, Dark Blue Denim, as well as Vivid Black, Black Denim, Olive Pearl and Pewter Denim. Of course, there's already a list of custom accessories to give it that final touch of personalization.

Soul mates of the Cross Bones include the Nightster, Night Train, Night Rod Special and Street Bob. Check out more on Dark Custom motorcycles here

The Cross Bones; Of the very few New Harley's I like, this is one of them!
I really like this bike!

However, there is no place to put my Lady-T as I know she will NOT ride the fender! Bummer! :-)

I'll keep my ride.

FXR's forever!

Ok, after doing the 340 mile ride to Borrego Springs in 45 mph cross winds with my Lady-T on the back of my FXR, we pull into our driveway at home that evening, she gets off, points her finger at my bike and says, "I AM NOT EVER GOING TO RIDE MORE THAN A HUNDRED MILES ON THAT BIKE AGAIN!"

Ouch!

Don, I think we did 370 miles and those 45 mph crosswinds felt more like 70mph. Im still pulling sand out of my ears and nose.
