Employee Bio of the Month: Jayme Gray |
Jayme joined the CHDB team in September of 2007. Jayme has a long history of riding motorcycles from a four year old riding a Honda 50 in the dirt to presently riding full dressers. Growing up (Jayme was born in Long Beach) Jayme worked on bikes with her father and finally fulfilled the goal in 2004 of attending the Motorcycle Mechanic’s Institute (MMI) in Phoenix. Shortly after graduation Jayme worked at a custom shop and learned ‘hands-on’ from a master mechanic before joining CHD/B and eventually becoming a Service Writer.
Jayme’s outside interests are many and varied. One of these, The Chopper Chick Crew, does ‘charity’ builds (the latest was a build in Milwaukee for the 105th Anniversary celebration) and has received many write-ups in motorcycle trade magazines. Jayme is also very involved with The RAACE Foundation which fights the sexual abuse of children. “Until every child is safe from sexual abuse, our race has no finish line.”
As if Jayme’s passion for bikes and her charities was not enough Jayme is also a member of a new “no-holds-barred” roller derby league, called the So. Cal. Renegade Roller Girls, in Southern California. The Renegade mission is to provide the women of Southern California the opportunity to participate in a team sport that contributes to fitness, making friends and building self confidence. As a part of a nationwide grass roots effort to revive the sport of roller derby, Renegade aims to give back to the community that supports their efforts not only with charitable contributions but with all the American, no-holds-barred roller derby entertainment.
Jayme lists her greatest accomplishment as being able to balance what she wants and needs in life and still “be there” for her family (parents, siblings and nieces and nephews).
That is one busy girl (it sounds to me as though she comes to work to get a rest). Come in and see Jayme to talk bikes or Roller Derby (ask her for a schedule) while you schedule your next appointment.
